The Problem

Results

The portfolio produced $79,000 in savings in its first year and includes renewable energy curriculum support that extends the benefits of the solar systems into the classroom.

Resulting in $79,000 in District savings in just the first year, South Monterey County Joint Union High School District (SMCJUHSD) partnered with ForeFront Power and SPURR (School Project for Utility Rate Reduction) to develop two solar parking canopy projects for the District. These include a 506 kilowatt (kW) project at Greenfield High School and a 414 kW project that is still under development at King City High School.

In addition to solar energy, SMCJUHSD is receiving educational curriculum from ForeFront Power – extending the benefits into the classroom.

ForeFront Power sat down with SMCJUHSD’s Chief Business Official, Sherrie Castellanos, to discuss the District’s decision to adopt solar energy and process for procurement with ForeFront Power and SPURR.
