Minghua de Mexico

Minghua de México powers its auto manufacturing plant with solar energy.

The Problem

Minghua de México needed to meet key customer expectations for renewable-powered manufacturing while improving the financial and environmental performance of its high-volume auto parts plant.

Our Solution

ForeFront Power developed a 630 kW DC rooftop solar system to supply the facility with clean, on-site electricity tailored to its industrial operations.

Results

The system helps Minghua save about $419,317 MXN annually, avoid nearly 500 metric tons of CO₂ each year—the equivalent of removing 120 gasoline cars from the road—and support Mexico’s goal of 43% clean power generation by 2030.

Minghua de México is a leading developer, manufacturer, and seller of vehicle components for the automobile industry serving customers including BMW, Tesla, and Volkswagen among others. Founded in 2015 as part of Chinese manufacturer JNMPT Group, Minghua operates a 120,000 m2 (square meter) manufacturing plant in the industrial park of Logistik ll, located in the town Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosí, México.

Minghua’s plant can produce up to 600,000 car parts annually. These parts range from fully assembled and painted bumpers to exterior panels and roof spoilers as well as its own specialized injection molds and high-tech mold parts. Across the street from the plant, Minghua’s primary customer BMW operates its own plant equipped with solar. When BMW requested that Minghua also implement renewable energy within its production process, Minghua began to research options for developing solar.

In an effort to boost the financial stability and environmental sustainability of its plant operations, Minghua partnered with ForeFront Power to develop a 630 kW DC rooftop solar energy system to power its manufacturing plant with clean, renewable electricity. Minghua will now save approximately $419,317 MXN per year and avoid emitting nearly 500 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is equivalent to taking 120 gasoline-powered cars off the road each year.

The 630 kW DC solar array adds to Mexico’s renewable energy capacity and aligns with Mexico’s climate goal of having 43% of power generation come from clean sources by 2030. Minghua and ForeFront Power’s partnership demonstrates how companies across Mexico can utilize solar energy to save on electricity costs, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to the country’s clean energy production targets.
